IT'S SNOT FUNNY

Today we made snot. Not real snot. The fake variety, using glue, water, and Borax. It was sticky and kind of gross. One student asked me, “What does this have to do with science?” Ah ha, good question! We handcrafted our Borax boogers to better understand mucus, the fluid (made up of water + proteins) secreted by mucus membranes that protect the body against infection. (The snot fairly effectively picks up glitter on your hands!) And also, we made snot because it's really fun.
